Support for hot switching hard drives is one of the MXI-Express Cable's standout features. This feature guarantees continuous operation and less downtime by enabling drive replacements without requiring the system to be shut down. The cable is perfect for applications that need continuous data logging and storing because it also enables an unlimited record mode. Because of its sturdy construction, the MXI-Express Cable is appropriate for harsh industrial environments because it can tolerate up to 25g of operating shock and 0.31g of operational vibration, especially in its SSD edition.

The PCI Express Specification, Versions 1.0a, 1.1, and 2.0 are completely compatible with the MXI-Express Cable, Gen 2 x 8. Due to its broad compatibility, the cable may be integrated into existing systems with simplicity and offers adaptability with a variety of PCI Express devices. The cable is designed to provide control of a PXI Express or CompactPCI Express chassis from a PC with an available PCI Express slot, or from a PXI Express chassis with an available PXI Express slot. It is based on PCI Express technology and employs PCI Express switches. Because this switch architecture is transparent to device drivers, PXI Express devices in connected chassis can be supported at the CompactPCI Express level without the need for extra software.
